Barring any major problems, Fox 6 will be launched on TW channel 506 on or before March 1st.  Fiber is now installed and transport gear is scheduled for installation and testing early next week.

This is not an official news release, nor is it a binding obligation; it's merely friendly heads up to the group.

Good news... May we ask what the source of this information is?

I will say that I am glad for TWC customers, but pretty dismayed that FAUX won't even boost their signal power "a touch" so that us non-TWC people can receive their weak signal.
I will bet that it's a first that a station is going to have a signal to cable before  anyone can get the OTA...and I am not talking about people  getting the signal basically in FAUX's backyard.

This sucks! I switch from TWC to OTA and this happens. Boooooooooooo!  :bang:

The source is the technical supervisor for the headend group(me).  The fiber shots look good and the hardware install is scheduled for Monday.  I am being told to be ready... and we will be on the technical side.  Of course I can't speak for any unforeseen contract snags that could arise...  however I am unaware of any issues at this time.

Sweet.. Thanks.

Although I am an OTA guy,  and (surprise) NOT a TWC guy,  there isn't enough on 6 to justify my getting TWC just for that.

I'll continue to watch the HD stuff I can get over the air... and 6 strikes out on both counts. So that makes my complete boycott of 6 pretty easy until Packer season.  ;)

A couple of things come to mind.  It's good that 6 is getting up on TWC so at least more than 3 people can watch them.  The down side for them is that now HD set owners can compare 6's widescreen offerings against 12 and 58's and guess who comes up short - 6 of course.  It'll be like putting a Yugo next to a Rolls.

Six should also come clean with their plans for mounting the antenna on the main tower and boosting their power.  A simple posting on their website would do.  Even Sinclair's Madison Channel 47 did this prior to going live.  Hate to think even Sinclair is more forthright than Fox 6.....

Chuck Steinmetz told me that the tower work will resume in Spring when the weather turns...

Wooo hoo!  Fox widescreen on TWC!

Now if we can only convince Fox to start HD resolution before the Packer season!

Tom Snyder

Tim Cuprisin confirms it tonight (although we scooped him)...

QuoteBarring any delays, Fox's version of high-definition TV is scheduled to pop up on Time Warner Cable Friday. Channel 6's signal will be available on Channel 506 for folks with digital cable, a high-definition cable box and an HD-ready TV

Does Fox broadcast ANYTHING in HD?  Nothing shows at HDTV Galaxy.

Nope. They only do WS 480P which is about DVD quality.

Youth Minister

What programs do they broadcast in WS 480p?  Anything on a regular basis or just select special events?

I do believe that most of their prime time line up is WS.

And I'm pretty sure NASCAR is also broadcast in WS.

Perhaps some OTA user who lives under their broadcast tower can verify this. :)
