Direct satellite broadcaster DirecTV is making an aggressive move with live high-definition coverage of National Basketball Association games this season. Following transmission of the first NBA All Star game in HDTV Sunday, February 9, DirecTV, and the NY Knicks/LA Lakers game February 16, DirecTV will produce several more live NBA games in HDTV.
The next HD NBA game will be Tuesday, March 4, when the New Jersey Nets meet the Dallas Mavericks. HDTV sports are part of a growing schedule of high-def programming on DirecTV.

The NBA games are available to DirecTV subscribers at no extra charge on the satellite service's Channel 198. Customers need to be properly equipped to receive them – as explained on the DirecTV website, with "an HDTV set with a built-in DirecTV receiver or a DirecTV-enabled high-definition set-top receiver, and a single 18" x 20" or 18" x 24" multi-satellite dish with three LNBs. HDTV sets integrated with the DirecTV receiver, DirecTV-enabled HD receivers and triple-LNB satellite dishes are available from authorized DirecTV retailers nationwide."
