We're looking into a home theater system, and came across the Toshiba 65H82 65" TheaterWide system.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with Toshiba, or better yet, with this particular set?

Or...  Is there a better set out there, for around the same price ($2999)?

Thanks...

Go with the Mits 65" for the same price.

I have to agree. Toshiba's are nice but their native rates are 540p and 1080i which can lead to artifacting with DVD's due to the extra processing from 480p to 540p. Also IMHO...they just seem "cheaper" using plastic for a majority of the cabinet.

Again IMHO, Mits's are probably the best "bang-for-buck" RPTV's basically for thir ability to have an incredible tweaked picture. They offer some incredible "extra's" such as net command, and these babies are built to last.

I love mine, and after a calibration I have yet to see another that compares including the measuring bar Pioneer Elite RPTV.

Edit...checked the Toshiba link, and for about the same price American has a 65" Mits with a built-in HDTV tuner and Netcommand. Cant go wrong

If you want to stay with Toshiba, I would recommend the Cinema Series televisons.  The model number would be 65HX82.  I'm sure you can go on Toshiba's website and find the differences.  Generally the Cinema series will be about $2-300 more than the Theaterview version.  In my opinion, the extra features and benefits more than offset the extra cost.

I purchased a 65HX81 set last April.  It's a perfect TV...no complaints whatsoever and would definitely purchase another.  I have a Toshiba DST3000 set top box, Toshiba DVD player, and 4DTV+HDD200.  All produce first rate images on my screen.  Good luck and enjoy.

I have a 50HX81 and absolutely love it.  I looked at a 55" Mits also when I was going to purchase the TV a year ago, and thought it looked great as well.  However, I thought the Toshiba had a better picture with standard cable, which was important to me.  Both looked great with DVD and HD.  You probably can't go wrong with either though.  Good luck!
