I bought the first edition samsung T-160 HDTV direct tv box connected to a 4x3 sony 40 inch wega. I had for two month theoption of letter box full or zoom with HDTV and analog and digital signals. but still had CHROMA problem. They offered exchange. Six boxes later I have chroma problem solved but box refuses to change to full or zoom picture mode on any channel or source .  Stays in Letterbox. Called sony said not tv called directv not them despite Samsung claiming it was their signal. Have others experiemced this? Is there a solution? I really like the box bit am tired trying to get an answer. Sinal is fine as through my TIVO box everthing is OK . Help please.

Thats bizarre that you had the option prior to this. Usually the Sony will automatically letterbox the HD signal coming in. So, you could still put the box in full, zoom or letterbox, but it would be occurring inside the black bars produced by the TV. The only workaround for this would be to run an S-Video to the TV on a different input and switch between the 2 for HD and SD, or using the TIVO input for everyday viewing.

I could be wrong, but thats been my take on the Sony's from day one......

I had a very similar problem with my T-150 two weeks ago.. I could not zoom it or change the image size at all on any source. It turned out I had accidentally changed the setting for display type.. It thought I had a 16:9 display so there was no reason to zoom or letter box.
I changed the menu back to thinking I had a 4:3 display and the zoom and letter box functions returned.

I have the tivo box assigned to SAT imput on the Sony. Irun a bridge from the sony to philips tivo  box using coaxial and that worked before . To pick up the sony HDTV signal from the samsung box I flip in between sat and hd on the sony remote and use cd optical in the av receiver and sat/cable on tivo . that was the hookup that worked for two months ten with the replacement boxes has not worked.
