How about the ESPN ad!!!!

I wonder how long our providers will make us wait for it???

There were tons of HD ads.. Wow!! Take your pick!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all movie trailers in HD? I know the following were (that I remember): Daredevil, Hulk (OMFG YEAH!), Matrix (OMFG YEAH YEAH!!), Anger Management, and The Recruit. If I missed any I apologize. Also there was obviously the very very sweet spot for ESPN-HD (c'mon DirecTV, do the right thing). Overall serious kudos to ABC. Not only did they bring us the super bowl, but all of the people at my house were very impressed with the concept of beautiful HD ads along with the game...

The Jim Carey movie ad was the only one I believe that wasn't in HD. They were great. I wish they had a glitch the start of "The Recruit" instead of "Daredevil" though.

The movie ads also had 5.1 sound, with a strong LFE channel.  The game itself was blah -- if the rears were used, I didn't notice.

The rears were used but it was just ambient stadium sound.

One thing I did notice was that at the start of the show there was a wierd phasing effect on the commentators where their voice was coming out of the rears about 1/2 second after the fronts.

Later on I realised that the fronts where picking up the commentators mics and the rears where picking up the commentators being broadcast in the stadium.

This improved as the game went on.  I guess someone figured out it was annoying..

All the movie trailers were incredible and LOUD! I have my system sound calibrated to 85 db reference level, but listen at lower volume. When those trailers played....definitely abouve the 85 db ref. level !!!!

My favorite was the ESPN ad! I can not wait!

I have noticed that many have commented on how incredible the HD ads for the movies were and how they "stole the show".  I totally agree.  When the first ad came on, it actually took my breath away with the 5.1 sound and everything.  The Daredevil ad was just awesome.

But it made me wonder...and maybe the answer is somewhere in one of these threads if someone can point me there...why did these movie ads (which I assume were shot using film and converted to HD for these commercials) appear so much clearer than most of the network shows shot on film and then converted to HD?  Maybe it was me or the ads were too short to really analyze, but I did not notice the graininess that you sometimes see in the network shows like CSI and Judging Amy.  Did I notice a difference that really was not there?

Regardless, it made me really anxious for HD quality DVD movies.
