Well, looking through TitanTV and HDTV Galaxy, I came across American Family on PBS that is supposed to 1080i. 6am this morning comes along and what do I see? SD letterbox (not even anamorphic). Being new to this my question is, does WMVS actually broadcast HD or do they always just multicast. If they just multicast is would cause me to be quite angry as the only other educational HD programs available would be the occasional show in HDNet (until DurecTV carries Discovery).

Typically, they multicast unless they're shoing 1080i source from the network. I've seen American Family in HD and it looks incredible.

They probably have to throw a switch to turn off the other channels and broadcast 10-1 (8-1) in HD... they either forgot or didn't feel that your viewer satisfaction was important enough to do that.

Channel 10's published HDTV schedule is so chroncially anfd woefully incorrect that I beleive the latter is the case.

Gotta love that Madison DTV!  Madison PBS 1080i 16x9, 24x7x365!

Gotta love Madison's entire HDTV initiative...

The whole market met or beat the deadline, and several stations beat the deadline by a mile. Are there any that aren't broadcasting in full power, 24x7?

And this in the the 97th market, and a fraction of the population (and logically a fraction of the TV revenue) of Milwaukee.

all Madison channels 24/7, HD?

Not yet.

Fox 47 WMSN, is still waiting a new transmitter.
Their antenna is already placed on the community tower.  Hopefully by fall.  Same Sullivan broadcasting as ch. 18 and 24 in Milwaukee.

Then again, Fox doesn't really do HDTV.

Also, the UPN affiliate out of Janesville on ch. 57 isn't digital.  They just got bought out by Acme and are asking the FCC to move the transmitter to the same community tower in Madison.  (As you might guess, with the name of Acme, they will become a WB affiliate.)

Guess I don't have as much to complain about with my HDTV as you guys.

Good luck, maybe there will be some nice atmosphere inversions going on here in the summer and you can watch James Bond and other movies in HD on WKOW-DT.
