Sony VPH1272Q and HDTV

We've got the 1272 CRT projector in the basement and are very happy with it, but I'd like to hook up HDTV and (of course) am looking for a very cheap way to do it.  Switched our TWC digital box to get one that allows red-green-blue hdtv cable to be attached, but according to the projector guys, we can't run it through the line doubler (I tried it, and it doesn't work), so I'd have to buy a converter box to switch the r-g-b to VGA output and a new card for the projector just to hook it up.  Does TWC have a box with some other type of hdtv output or do I have to stick with red-green-blue?  

Please have mercy on me, I'm not a techno person, so may have used incorrect terms, but hopefully you all get what I'm referring to.

You may want to look at this AVS forum thread.  It does suggest a solution.  The older HD2000 TWC boxes had a switch inside that you could switch to RGB, but you still needed to buy a 5 RCA  to 9 pin VGA converter.  The HD 3100 does not have the capability to output RGB.  The YPbPr output of the HD 3100 cannot be feed to the projectors VGA input without converting it to RGB. The picture will be mostly green.   I have two componet inputs (Sharp 9000 projector) that can be feed either YPbPr or RGB, but the VGA imput can only take RGB.  I assume your projector's VGA input is also limited to RGB.  The converters appear to sell for $150 to $350.  A full blown video processor would cost thousands.

A search on the AVS forum will provide more info on what others are doing to resolve your dilemma.

This one looks like it is limited to 480p output, but I have seen posts that say it will pass 1080i.
