I recevied my Time Warner HDTV convertor box yesterday
**  Is TW going to be broadcasting the Superbowl   in a HDTV format ?

** Also is CBS58 on 505 & PBS on 510  the only stations broadcasting HDTV on Time Warner on certain shows .. ?
I thought ER on  504 was  HDTV but I did not get the full screen format  had the dog ears on each end ., .. is this a indication we are not receving a HDTV feed ?

Sorry for the  dumb question but I am new to this ,..

Thanks in adanbvr

You should get:

NBC on 504
CBS on 505
PBS on 510
ABC on 512

If you subscibe to these premium channels you can also get
HBO HD on 500
Showtime on 501

The superbowl is on ABC and yes it is to be shown in High Definition.

ER is usually in HD.  If it was not shown this was then either:
1) NBC national did not transmit it in HD.
2) The local affiliate forgot to switch to the national HD feed as broadcast an unconverted 4:3 analog version, or
3) the connections between you set top box and the TV are incorrect.

If you are not recieving at 16:9 programming, double check that you are connecting the SA3100HD to your TV using the component cable (thats the cable with three leads - red, green and blue).

As for which programs are broadcast in high definition, well not all of them are.  If you look at Titan TV you will get the broadcast schedule and it will indicate which programs are in HD and which are not.  I find that Titan currently does not have TW Milwaukee Digital set up correctly, but if you look at the terrestial listings you will get the information.

Hope this helps.

kerry, you forgot option 4

4) the episode was a rerun that was broadcast before the show went to hd.

Just another possibility.

Edit - Although I guess that could be included in option 1. :)

Even though brodcasters are sending shows in HD now, there is still a back catalog for some shows that are not in HD. So if you see an ER, L&O, or similar rerun this year not in HD, chances are it might be a rerun that is only in SD.

It was option 4.  Mark Greene was still alive--very old show.

Very true.  I thought about this but figured that they would not be showing reruns that old now.  Don't know why I thought that?
