I thought I heard recently that these two stations were going HD soon? Anyone know?

Joseph S

That's definitely what you heard.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we were being told the truth. I was personally told May, and then I believe Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec. The FCC has given them until 7/31/03 so don't expect much. They also completely refused to answer when they would broadcast the HD shows on UPN/WB.

I'll believe it when I see it. All I know is they paid millions for a car dealership for the CEO and several thousand to get a Mayor elected in MD. They don't care a bit about digital or HDTV. Hopefully, they'll either quit the market or be stripped of the licenses.

Here is what I know about the project.  The transmitters and antennas for 18, 24 and 55 are installed at the CH 10 tower.  I don't know if the transmitters have been tested into dummy loads.  As of writing this, I can see the tower crew moving sections of transmission lines in place.  Also Ch 8 is off the air while they are working on the tower.  Cha 10 & 36 are on their back ups.  I would guess that they will be on in the next 2 months.  This is only a guess.  As for what they will do with programming I don't know.

I noticed today as I make my rare trip through downtown Milwaukee on I-43 going from south to the north is a tower that has 3 antennas on the top in a triangular shape next to teh old MATC tower were Ch. 10, 18 & 36 used to be analog wise.  But next to it is this black tower with 3 antennas, I asumed it is the new ch. 10, along with ch. 8 and perhaps 36 tower. Are you saying that the antennas are likely to be of ch. 61 (18) and 25 (24)???

Like I said its one of my rare trips from the south to north side via I-43, I-94. I might travel that way 2 times a year at the most. I did notice some new and different towers and set up in and around the antenna farm while viewing it from I-43.

Interesting!

Yes that is the new channel 10&36 tower.  That tower no holds antennas for 8,10, 22(WVCY DTV), 25 (WCGV DTV), 40(PAX 55) and 61(WVTV DTV).  At this point I don't know when they will fire up the equipment.  I know that the transmitters ar installed.
