Hey all,
Anyone have the inside scoop on these channels for time warner cable? Especially CBS cause they have some awesome programming. I didnt even know Fox had hdtv till i watched malcom in the middle and it said  In high resolution tv--widescreen.  Well  if you could post anything you know about talks, dates, rumors..it'd be great.
thanks
Mike

No one here (that I'm aware of) has any clue as to what/when TWC will offer next in HDTV offerings.  They certainly haven't provided any information either.

While I agree that CBS has some good HDTV offerings, I wouldn't get too excited about Fox.  Their idea of "high definition" is simply widescreen 480p, not really HDTV.

I have sent an email request to add Discovery Theater HD to the channel line up just today, and got a standard canned responsed:

QuoteDear Mr. Norman,

I have recently received your email to Time Warner Cable regarding your request to add Discovery Theater HD to the digital cannel line up effective June 17th.  I have taken the liberty of forwarding your request to our marketing department for advisement.  Thank you for your ideas to better improve our service to you, our valued customer.  Should you have any further questions or account concerns, please feel free to call our customer service team 24 hours a day at 1-800-627-2288 or you may also write to us via the Time Warner Website.

Thank you for your feedback to Time Warner Cable!

This means that this is not likely to happen any time soon.  However, if more people write or phone to add this service, then TW are more likely to add the channel.

IMHO, I would think that there is a better chance of getting Discovery Theater HD on cable before any of the locals, as this would be seen in TW eyes as a new premium channel to be added to their package rather than just a duplication (Cable providers do not want to dual carry channels) of an existing local channel.  Remember, for TW, more channels is good - the quality of the channel however does not come into consideration...

I sent a request for it as well on their feedback page via the Web site.  However, I never have gotten a response, canned or otherwise.

I'm actually rather surprised that, like PBS, there wasn't some sort of national agreement with AOL/Time-Warner that allowed all TWC cable companies to carry the channel.  Obviously, that is hard to do with local channels, but I would have guessed that with Discovery some sort of nationwide deal would have been reached.

Of course, I seriously doubt that on June 17th I'll turn on my TV/cable box and see Discovery HD.

Thats okay because I know that come June 17, it isn't going to be on DirecTv either. I actually think TWC will carry this before Directv.

Yeah, I'm rather surprised that the only provider with HDNet wouldn't carry Discovery HD.  I've heard that Dish will (or is that might?) be carrying it.

I'm rather surprised at the relative lack of interest by providers to carry it.  But, I guess that show how reluctant they are with HDTV to begin with.

*Sigh* Oh, the joys of being an early adopter!
