Price looks good...  better than you can even buy a "used" one for at Amazon.  If it's not a concern that you'd be buying a refurb with a full warranty. I guess the chance of getting one with something not working right might be a little greater with a refurb, but that's how I buy all my computers, and have never had a problem.

This offer has been showing up on the "hot deals" websites for a couple of days now. Mostly positive comments, with a lot of people seeming to agree with Tom's view of refurbs.

Also, following sp44again's link, I found that Tivo does indeed still offer the lifetime subscription on standalone DVR's. $249

Personally, I think I'll still hold out for the HD recorders.
