Just a heads-up for antenna users- plan to rescan your TV tuners on October 18th because several local stations are switching frequencies that day.

Along with WISN 12 and Justice Milwaukee, WVTV, WDJT, WPXE, WITI and WTMJ will also move to new frequencies on October 18th:

More information is available here:

https://www.tvanswers.org

Please pass this news on to your friends who also use antennas. :)

When I was very young in the early/mid 1980's I used to watch what I think was the New Berlin Public Access or School District (?) channel. It would feature computer animation (like when school was out for Christmas break) done on what I assume was an Amiga or Commodore 64 or something.

If anyone finds any footage of it on YouTube and can link to it here or can upload it to YouTube I would love to see it again some time! Thanks!

I have a few questions about the history of the cable service and cable companies that once served the Milwaukee area.

1. We had cable in the early/mid 1980's in New Berlin. It had a set top box like this one:

What cable provider did we have?

2. In the late 80's what were the cable options like in Waukesha? I now we had Paragon and then and then Century Cable (or was it the other way around?) and then I guess Time Warner took over the cluster at some point in the mid 1990's?

Does anyone remember specific details?

Thanks!!!

Since the re-design, I can't find the cable lineup notice changes on the site anymore. Are they still there? Help! :) Thanks.

My Network TV in an Overhaul

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/10/business/media/10mynetwork.html?ref=business

Tick-tock, tick-tock... I give them about a year before MyNetworkTV is history, and WCGV goes all-syndication 24/7. I can't stand the MyNetTV branding, so I'll be glad to see that.

What show(s) would you like to see added to the ME-TV (WBME) lineup?

I don't know if anyone from Weigel Broadcasting reads this; but I'd like to see these shows added at some point (no idea which are being offered up for syndication to locals):

Here's Lucy (maybe not available for syndication?)
The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour
Dennis The Menace
Lassie
Car 54, Where Are You?
The Donna Reed Show
Mister Ed
My Three Sons (both the black and white and color syndication packages)
The Monkees
Make Room For Daddy
The Patty Duke Show
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
Get Smart
Dragnet (both the 50's and 60's series).

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / The CW on death watch...

I miss the old Super 18 logo... Maybe we'll see it return.. I have a feeling the CW will be dead within 2 years unless they manage to save the sinking ship.

I thought this might make for a fun thread. :) I'd like to see:

Dennis the Menace
The Patty Duke Show
The Donna Reed Show
My Three Sons (The black and white syndication package)
Mister Ed
Lassie (preferably the early seasons)
Get Smart
Dragnet (both series)
Flipper
Car 54, Where Are You?
Father Knows Best
The Monkees

I don't know if they're all available for ME-TV to pick up; but a lot of them havn't been seen on local or national TV in years.

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / WMLW and WBME simulcasting
Monday Jun 16, 2008, 08:55:16 AM
Okay so I get that Weigel wants to promote ME-TV but why are they still) simulcasting the same shows on WMLW and WBME at the same time?

I can understand running ads and crawels promoting it; but running the same episodes of the same shows on two stations at once doesn't make any sense. I hope it's a temperary thing.

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / What's TWC Channel 75
Sunday Jun 15, 2008, 02:57:03 PM
I just found programing on TWC Channel 75 (analog). Anyone know what this is? Is it a public access channel? The TWC website lists it as Home Shopping Network but that isn't right.

I'm hoping someone much smarter than I can figgure this out. :)

Okay so here's the situation.

I have a TV that's connected to analog cable (Time Warner if it matters). I just connected a manual RF switch to it:

http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/Atari%20TV%20Switch.JPG

to play my Atari 2600 system. But even when I'm not playing games, and the switch is slid to TV; I still get a lot of interference on specific channels (3, 4, 6, 10, 12 in particular). Most other TV chanels come in just fine but those particular channels come in with a lot of ghosting or scrambling. All of the above mentioned channels looked fine before I hooked up the RF switch.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? The RF switch otherwise works fine in so far as being able to use the Atari system.

Thanks! :)

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / Maybe bad news for WVTV

Poor Sinclair. They're stuck with affiliates for the two lowest rated networks that nobody seems to be watching. :(

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Hang-up calls from TWC!
Tuesday Apr 08, 2008, 12:29:39 PM
I keep getting hang-up calls from TWC. Caller ID doesn't give a name, but I Google the phone number and it's them. I pick up the phone and nobody answers. I let it go to the answering machine and they don't leave a message!

And about once every 2 months they call and I get an automated message advertising their voicemail service. Very annoying!

Aggggh! For the third time in about a year and a half, TWC has changed the interface for the digital cable box. Pick one, and stick with it, Time Warner!

So Sinclair let the wcgv24.com and wvtv18 domain names lapse awhille back when they switched to thattvwebsite.com. Now they're apparently dropping the thattvwebsite.com 2-in-1 website idea (a wise decision in my opinion). The new sites are:

http://www.my24milwaukee.com/

and

http://www.cw18milwaukee.com/

which is fine and all but why didn't they hang on to the non-network-specific wcgv24.com and wvtv18.com domain names in case one (or both) of those networks go belly-up in the near future? They could always have had them both re-direct to the network-specific domain names.

I'm begining to wonder if my Road Runner connection is too slow? I have TWC's All-In-One package and my computer gets connectivity via a wireless router connected to another computer in the house.

Here's the speed test results:

Does that look normal? If you have Road Runner could you please post your results in this thread? Go here:

http://www.speedtest.net/

do the test (I selected the Germantown server), and then paste in the "Forum" link code.

Thanks. :)
